39th Day of JUSARS Initiative

39th Day of JUSARS Initiative

It has been nearly 40 days. There is just one pertinent question for both the Central and State Governments. Have the promised rations reached all across the nation?

  • Sanitization Drive :

We had decided to provide majority of our comrades with a day off – so we were a bit understaffed and could only manage to distribute around 2 LT Sanitizer :

A) 8 Delivery Personells, 6 Estate Guards, 4 Civic Volunteers availed 100ml ration.

B) 200ml was distributed among the contractual labors who work in our university (30ml per head).

  • Food Drive :

(a) We provided ration to 6 families of househould helps and daily wage earners in and around Rabindrapally, Peerless and Kasba.

(b) Our commune served bhaat, daal and alu chokha to approximately 510 people in and around

Golpark – Gariahat Crossing

  • Our Observation :

India produces 80 – 90 million metric tonne rice in a year on average. The India’s rice production reached to a record high of 104.32 million tonnes in 2011-2012.

In the year 2015-16 India globally exported :

1)40.45 Lakh MT of Basmati Rice for the worth of Rs. 2,2718.44 crores
2) 63.66 Lakh MT Non-Basmati rice for the worth of Rs. 15,129.09 crores

Link :

Has 40 lakh Metric Tonne of Rice or 2,2718.44 crores of Rupees been allocated to migrant laborers? Has 63 Lakh Metric Tonne of Rice or 15,129.09 crores of Rupees been allocated to homeless people, daily wage laborers and other economically marginalized communities? Have any of the promised ration / welfare schemes been implemented?
How are both the central and state level governments failing at feeding the people for 40 days with that insane amount of resources?

Has the time not come to demand these answers? Or are we still keeping faith with candles and banging plates?
